OK fellas , problem ........
I went to put xp pro corporate on my m8's pc last night - on her 40 gig drive i partitioned 4 / 36 - Puit in the xp disk - system started checking it's hardware config then i was faced with this error message ...
file\i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded . Error code 14
The system rebooted itself and the windows setup screen appeared - got as far as downloading the " windows executive " files then errored me this message ....
file\i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded . Error code 7
Am i right in thinking these i386 files are instillation cab files ?
Dodgy xp pro disk ?
Crapped out cd rom drive ?

sounds to me like a dodgy cd can you get hold of another one
yeah i have access to both a microsoft oem pre installation kit and a retail version of xp pro corporate - was i right about the i386 file being an installation cab file ? I thought it might have been the installation cd , it's erm you know * wink wink * lol

The i386 folder is the setup files folder copied from the Windows XP Setup CD.

a mere " wink wink " is what i meant - haha well it was cosher as far as i know - but for all the tech of nero design covers etc who knows - i got microsoft oem pre installation kit - maybe that'll sort it huh ?

i must admit if i had known at the time i would have shown you the same screen illegal copies of microsoft and other manufacturers products makes it so expensive for the rest of us who want to buy the original liscenced products
if you had had the original copy you would have sorted the problem but if you copied off a mates you may be stuck
