problem is only with Internet explorer. Netscape works like a charm, but software that you install ONLY uses the built-in IE commands to display webpages and handle scripting. I've tried removing IE6 but that caused more problems.

I've been able to eliminate Norton Internet Security. I thought it might have been the javascript SymError code it puts at the begining of webpages.

This problem is affecting access in several games I play that use php & javascript. It seems to be only a select few problems, as javascript works perfect. I installed newest version of msxml 4.0..and newest scripting from microsoft.

I have another box with the same configuration & utils : WIN XP sp2 ie6 and everything works fine.

Do you get any error messages?

Look in your event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. click error line for details. post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a failure.

What exactly happens with Windows Updates? The page loads properly but it is just blank?

What other software or games are you having problems with & what happens?

How did you try to remove IE6? Did you repair or re-install it?
