After a number of power cuts in my area I decided to run error-checking with both boxes ticked to check for any damage.
So the computer restarted and began checking the drive. After fixing several files it stopped and came up with a message saying it could not continue and the restarted.
I then ran error-checking without the boxes ticked and after phase1 I get this message:
windows was unable to complete the disc check.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

I'm currently defragmenting to see if that helps.

Try running it in safe mode, just tap the F8 key as the computer starts up.

Thanks, I tried safe mode after defragmenting the disc but still no joy.

I am runing it again now from stratup to see if it will work.

After defragmenting I ran disk check form startup again. It took several hours but completed the disk check and now will run from windows again. So what ever the problem was it got fixed.

Dont Know what the problem was but I guess if it happens again i'll just keep running disk check form startup until it's fixed.
