    windows crashes on startup

Hi all, well im having serious trouble, earlier today I got the dreaded blue screen of death and had to reboot but the only problem is when windows loads up it automatically reboots again. This even happens when I load up in safe mode.

Ive tried running the windows repair function from the XP CD but when it comes to reading the HD after r for repair has been pressed then it just freezes again. It wont even let me install a new version of windows same issue. Help!

I think but am not sure that it has something to do with d347bus.sys file which I think is part of daemon tools but I cant do anything about this any ideas anyone. P.s I really really dont want to format the HD if I can help it as I have some important work on there, thankfully most is backed up but still.

    Thanks in advance

can you start safe mode with command prompt?

if so: this will open system restore:

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Nope!, I get a list of files it is currently loading e.g disk(0) ect \Systems\blah then asks if I would like to skip installing file d347bus.sys if I say yes it reboots and if not it still reboots cant enter safemode at all.

You can run a Repair Install of XP that should save your data except for windows updates & service packs which will need to be reinstalled.

You do this by booting the XP CD & Do Not press R but Enter & follow the following instructions:
