    Windows XP won't shut down

For some reason my Windows XP computer began to slow when shutting down. Then It failed to load windows at all. Since I could not access windows at all, I carried out a repair and windows now works perfectly again. However, I am still in the same boat, it will not close down 60% of the times it is swiched on. I then have to resort to manual shutdown
    Any help would be appreciated

    Bear,
Found the answer, all due to a build up static electricity in the computer when this was dealt with, machine shutdown in its normal 15 secs.
