    Internet Auto-connection issue

    hi everyone,

sorry but i wasn't sure which category this issue may fit to so i posted here!!

i'm running a Windows XP, and recently my dial-up internet connection is automatically dialing once windows is loaded. Aftern disconnecting, after a while it tries to re-connect. I've set internet option not to automatic dialing.

So i'm wondering if there's a way of knowing which program is trying to get online? and how would i go around disabling this?

    thanks!

What exactly is your setting under I.E. options > connections?

    Are you using Outlook Express?

    MSN Messenger?

If this just started happening recently; have you made any changes that might be relavent?

I used to have this problem all of the time but since getting BB you soon forget how you used to stop dial up problems. I am sure there is a tick box in network connections in advanced I think.....do not try to connect when an internet connection is dropped or something like that and never dial an internet connection.

No changes that i'm aware of... i've installed Apache for windows, which might be the reason...

Probably some task or process that is running in the background trying to connect up to some server.

Waht i´d suggest is check for programs that autostart, run a spyware tool such as AdAware and let it scan.

Can also try to go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections and tick "Never dial a connectio"
