I have a dvd/rw set to slave & a dvd/rom set to master
when i inject a dvd into the dvdrom nothing happens, I double click the drive and it says that it is empty. device manager tells me everything is fine. i dont no what else to do. pls help me someone i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but its still the same please help

Is it only DVD's the drive has trouble with reading or standard CD's as well?

I'm having the same problem as you two, I recently reformated my PC hoping that this would solve the issue but unfortunately it's still there whenever I insert a DVD it keeps spinning & spinning looking for something but in the end it stops & when I click on my dvd drive it asks me to insert a cd or dvd rom. I have no problems playing music cds or installing games from my dvd drive.
Now sometimes the dvd would work but after alot of inserting & ejecting & the video gets choppy in some instances.
I used to play DVDs on my computer without any problems so I'm guessing that either I need a newer version of WinDVD (my dvd decoder software) or the DVD Drive is old & needs to be changed. I would let you guys know what worked for me as soon as I get either the WinDVD update or a newer DVD drive.
Another guess would be that the lense inside the dvd drive might need cleaning but then again I'm not too sure.
