Grrr, Blue Screens
Hi, I have been having a problem with blue screens.
I went in to the event viewer, as was advised to someone else on another thread and there are about 15 errors with a X next to them.
There are a few different ones but if I list them I hope someone may be able to help me. It has been very frustrating when the computer suddenly crashes.
Source Event
System Error 1003
DCOM 10005
Service Control Manager 7000
Service Control Manager 7009
Service Control Manager 7011

Does this happen often? Does it reboot? If so change this setting:
rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery Settings then unclick Automatically restart
Post full error messages from there.
Did this just start happening? Any new hardware/ software?
What are you doing when it crashes?
Also try this:
start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk/f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.
Did the System Error 1003 have any further details? Such as: 0000000a = "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

This is a new computer (i've only had it just over a week). It does it maybe once or twice a day and i tend to use the computer maybe 5 hours per day but it doesn't restart. I have to turn the computer off, then on again.
New hardware or software? Well I have a wireless usb gadget to get my internet so I had to install that and I've added a few programs such as Championship Manager 4, Div X, RealPlayer, not many.

try chkdsk/f.
What kind of recovery disks came with the machine?
-
the machine came with what i am guess are some standard cd's for reinstalling win XP and the programs already installed with it
-
i would try chkdsk/f
otherwise read the manual on how to use the recovery cd's
or if you don't want to bother I would simply take it back & demand a working machine.
