Jennifer I have already sent you a private message. As you know I had the same problem as you and I have just this minute found the answer. If you look in mouse properties, buttons, then double click speed, mine was on fast and when I moved the pointer a bit slower it opened up the folder and is fine now. Hope this helps

Sorry to keep this thread hanging for so long. Tried literally every fix that was posted in this thread and no change. I resolved by changing folder options to "Single-click to open an item." Thanks to everyone for their input.
