that's cmd not dmc ?????

if you typed dmc when you tried to restore then try restore again from cmd

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

so..

when i go to start/run and write cmd it opens a window that says that windows cannot open this file, and asks me if i want to open it using the web service or select a program from a list. so i cannot do what you're telling me to do.

nope! the only thing that opens after typing it in RUN is %temp% -useless information, just informing you (NOTHING ELSE CAN BE OPENED BY run)

what kind of cd's did you get?

do you have the manual? can you find a section on recovery or repair xp?

what is the make & model of the computer?

is it still under waranty?

the good thing is that i can still use microsoft word so i can do my work there.
