looks dodgy to me. probably a windows messenger generated message, that links you to some nastiness. if you know how, turn windows messenger off (NOT MSN Messenger!!) and get yourself a nice firewall :-)

Don't touch that thingy! Don't download. That is an internal messenging service in xp supposedly for inter network messenging. It is known to be exploited by "spammers" & "virus writers". It can be turned off but you really should have a firewall which wouldn't let anyone have access to that service.

I recommend the following for simplicity & good security:

The free version works good although the site will try to sell you the "Pro"
version. Just follow the path to "Free".

just bear in mind that disabling the service does not solve the problem that you have open ports which will continue to be vulnerable; you just wont be told about it.

a firewall is as essential as an anti-virus.

sp2 has a built in firewall that blocks incoming very well, but third party programs are much preferable as they block in & out, tell you what they are doing, and are configurable.

    close your ports

it allows you to make choices. in the begining there are alot of "things" to allow or block. after a while your general choices will be configured & for the most part you wont know its there.

    But it IS!

My point would be that a firewall gives you choices (some take time & patience to set-up) whereas running without one leaves your machine in the hands of others making choices.

There are other products to try, I just offered my favorite

At least get sp2 so you're running xp's wall would be my advice

    Just to clarify:

As Bear pointed out you can turn off xp's messenging service by the following:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../stopspam.mspx

Or by installing sp2 which default disables this service.

This has nothing to do with xp's Window's Messenger which is a basic version of MSN Messenger.
The following tool, which is basically a services shortcut tool allows you to uninstall xp Windows (MSN) Messenger:
