    Cool Folder Icon Changes Unexpectedly

Hey hi I'm back for more... So, anyways. I've got LimeWire installed on drive E:\ in a folder called 3. Limewire. I put my Downloads folder inside of it and that's where all my files download to. Whenever I download something, the folder icon of both the 3. Limewire folder and the Downloads folder change back to the default folder icon. If anyone knows why and/or a possible remedy to this annoying-ness, hey, let me know. Thanks!

The only thing I can find in XP is to make sure you have the View selection of that folder set to Icon (not thumbnail).

Also from LimeWire I found this thread:

Remember when you choose to downld a file, its icon will change to an open manilla folder.

I had it set to Tiles, but I now have it set to Icons and it's no different, the icon still changes. That link has to do with what's displayed in Limewire, not on my computer. Why would the icon of the folder change? I don't understand it. Anything else, friends?

My only thought was that the Limewire program was triggering this.

Try to download something else (just a pic, for example) to that folder: does it change?

I can find no precedent in XP.

Doing a test tho I see when I customise the Icon of a folder it creates within it the file "desktop.ini"
    Do you see this file?
If you click its' properties set it to "read only".
    This maybe will set it.

I couldn't see that file, but it was there because I put E:\3. Limewire\desktop.ini in run and something with data in it came up. What I did was in the Customize Folder... thing I hit change icon and made it what I wanted and I hit change picture and made it that icon. Now it's all cool.

Hmm... well... I thought it was corrected, but I was gravely mistaken. That seems to not have fixed it at all. I am in need of more ideas.

Still wonder about setting that particular "desktop.ini" to Read Only.

    Also perhaps:

    In folder options: view:
    check
    Remember each folders view settings

    ...will keep searching...

Sorry, forgot to fill you in on the fact that what you told me didn't work. What a trying issue!
