DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime
What exactly happens when you try to download the above?
What error messages do you get?

Have been messing around with the PC for hours since posting. I can install directx 9.0c but when I do the 3D acceleration and graphics are showing not available on diagdx, and then the system will crash and say Radeon 9200 is responsible for system instability, error report etc. Tried downloading the latest driver from AVI website and then nothing works, so have to system restore. When system restore is complete diagdx shows that 9c is installed and pc works but any games that require 9.0c don't work. Hope this makes sense!

do you have .NET Framework 1.1 installed?
check Windows Update.

Many thanks jephree ... not sure if I do have .NET framework 1.1 installed. I have spoken with the guy who set up the PC for me today and he is going to re-format the system for me tomorrow, he installed a new processor a few days ago which may well have caused conflicts with previous installations. Fingers crossed it will all be working tomorrow - thanks for your advice - Karen
