when i close down windows get a message that sysupd.exe dll initialization failed due to windows shutting down tassie devil gave me some ideas but didnt work this is on a home system not a laptop please help if anyone can .

Please download and run the following :

1) SpyBot Search and Destroy
After installing SpyBot Search & Destroy, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.
Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', have SpyBot remove all the items it marks in red.

2) Ad-Aware
After installing Ad-Aware, and before running the program, first press “check for updates now".
Click "Connect" and install all updated components available. Click 'Finish'.
Press "Scan Now", then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Check all found items, and click 'next' once more.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Always reboot the computer between each program - both of these may find things that they need to have a reboot of the machine to clear - please reboot and let them finish.


Then run one of the following on-line virus scans: Housecall or Bitdefender


Go to Windows Update and scan then download ALL of the critical updates.

If all that fails please post a HijackThis log to the forum.

Launch HijackThis, then press Scan, and press Save Log.

This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.

Open that file.
Go to Edit | Select all
Now click Edit | copy to copy it.

Do not change anything just yet.

my computer was infected with the virus.scanning showed that the sysrnj.exe is infected with virus.i deleted the sysrnj.exe.now when i click on a file windows doesn,t open the file.
