Then you are not reading the Licensing agreement. When you click I agree, then you are bound to that contract. IF you do not like it, then dont buy MS software and use something else.

Thanks to all who replied. I am quite clear. Either I buy a used machine with XP installed or buy the upgrade.

I don't like the restrictions but as one comment had it I agreed to the licence conditions when I started using the new PC.
