Can't view properties of any files?

    Hi everyone,
I am right-clicking on random files I created (.jpg, .doc, .txt), and the normal menu window comes up. I click on 'properties' so I can view the file size, but I receive a pop up dialog box instead that reads:

    -----------------------------------
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
    abnormal program termination
    [OK]
    -----------------------------------

I click OK, and then all my icons on my desktop disappear for a few seconds, and then they all reappear.
I tried rebooting my machine and making sure I have all updates available to my computer. I do. I am running Windows XP SP2. I have no funky software running on my machine, and have checked for spyware and viruses. Nothing.
I do use Visual Source Safe 6 on my machine (as a hobby). I only use VB, not VC++ as the dialog box states.
I have never had this problem before. I have had my machine for three years and this just started today. I have not installed any new software.

    Any ideas? This is frustrating.

    Thanks!!

I see one post with your exact error that was replied to thus:

"There are two common reasons for this; the first is that there is not
    enough diskspace left on C:
and the second is that a system DLL has been over-written
(can be determined using sfc scannow)"
