my monitor shut down and won't come back on; keeps flashing, self test monitor is working properly, check cable connection; changed monitor worked for about ten minutes then did same thing, is there a problem with video card?
Have you checked your settings under Control Panel > Power Options?
What exactly do you mean by "keeps flashing"?
By "self test" do you mean the BIOS POST?
Is the monitor plugged into the video card or the motherboard?
the monitor won't come on for me to see anything; just keeps flashing
Shut it off.
Pull the power plug from wall.
Hold the power button "ON" for a good minute. (Unplugged!)
Then plug back into the wall & power on.
If you get past the BIOS POST start tapping the F8 key to enter Safe Mode Options
Boot the computer to "Enable VGA Mode".
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
- Find your video driver package & uninstall
While in Control Panel, go to System, Hardware
Device Manager. Expand (Click +) besides Video
-Any devices listed, Right Click, Choose Uninstall
Reboot the Machine - It will re-detect your video card
Re-install the drivers
Go back to Device Manager and change your monitor
definition to the correct vendor/model.
thanks I'll try this when I get home from work, will be back if there is any more problems.
it didn't work
Do you see your BIOS POST?
Can you boot into safe mode?
Not VGA this time but Safe Mode?
