ATI Radeon 8500DV not recognized in Multimedia Center after upgrade to SP2
I recently installed SP SP2 on my system. Everything worked fine except the video card. The video card is an ATI Radeon 8500DV All In Wonder card. I downloaded the latest drivers and multimedia software and also installed directX9.0c and Dao and Windows Media Encoder. Everything installs perfectly with one glitch. When i start the TV tuner the picture will come up just fine(albeit a little slow to start up) and if i close the tv program and restart it the computer freezes to a black screen and all thats going on is the sound from the tv. ATI has a config utility that checks to see that everything is installed propery and ready to go however, when it checks the ati card and drivers attached to it it says its not a radeon graphic chip and to reinstall the driver for it. I must have done that about 1900 times to no avail. If you go into Smartgart panel under advanced settings for the card it shows that AGP is turned off and even if you move the slider over and restart the computer as it asks when it reboots and you go back into that panel it still shows AGP as being turned off. it seems as if SP SP2 doesnt like the card. Maybe someone out there has experienced the same thing and if so what was the fix for it. I have since reinstalled XP SP1 and all the same drivers and software work perfectly. So any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike
