    Bad Color on dvd playback

When I play dvd's on Media player, Powerdvd, or intervideo the color is horrible (green and purpleish) I cannot fix the colors, yet in the stand alone player it is perfect. This started about a week ago. Don't know what I did or where to start to fix it. I think I have deleted all recently installed programs but that didn't help. Can anyone help?

Just to clarify: are you talking about a different device when you refer to "the stand alone player"? Or is this the same player without the "media player" software?

Do you have a Restore Point back before "about a week ago"?

Any problems with the media player playing streaming video?

    Or any other monitor problems?

By Stand alone player I meant the dvd player connected to my television.

Unfortunately I do not have a restore point beyond yesterday, don't ask me why.

No other monitor problems and by streaming do you mean like viewing movie trailers on the web? If so, I see those fine.

I downloaded something that checks for decoders and found most of mine were a problem...so I found one that works and chose that for a default. The thing that troubles me is how they stopped working in the first place. I used to be able to use 3 different dvd players on the PC now I am reduced to one.

I think I might be ok, but if you know anything better, please share with me.

    Thank you

The lack of Restore Points & settings changes:
You might want to run HijackThis & post in the spyware section.
Do you run an anti virus & or adaware; spybot; etc.?

please follow owen's instructions HERE and then post your log HERE

Owen: I have done what you suggested...WOW! Anyway I have posted to the forum you suggested, hopefully someone will tell me how I messed up. As a matter of fact, I had been running Spybot and when I went to start scanning...it was gone. I do run a few malware programs and an antivirus and have a firewall. Now all I need is a Linda Firewall. I do most of the damage.

    Thanks again
