Yesterday or the day before there were load of updates for XP..............To get then I had to turn Sygate off what application is it that controls updates?

Every second Tuesday of every month Microsoft releases whatever updates it has. There were 10 issued for XP last tuesday.

There are various settings for Automatic Updates from auto install to notification to nothing.

I find notification the best. Then you can install at your will.

As far as Sygate I suggest you go to the Windows Update site and configure Sygate to allow downloads from that site.

If you rt. click My Computer then click Properties you will see the Automatic Updates tab.

Also with SP2 it is listed under the Security Center.

Also under All Programs you can access Windows Updates site.
