two "Windows XP" operating system choice at startup
I was trying to reinstall Windows XP onto my computer, and think I may have set up two operating systems because i didnt really understand what they meant by partitioning. but i finally successfully installed a version of windows XP. my problem is now every time i start my computer the choice comes up of which windows xp to run, instead of simply booting up automatically. how can i get rid of this choice, or get rid of the version of windows XP i did not seem to install properly.

go into your root directory, most likely c: and turn on folder options to show system files. Look for boot.ini file. Open with notepad. You will most likely see two different XP lines in there. Just delete the one that not longer exists. Resave the file. Reboot the computer and it should boot right up without asking.
