Can you please help,
i have somehow mucked up my harddrive (messing with the registry)
it will now not boot (win xp)
i have installed it in a friends machine also running xp and it is detected as drive D, but only the recovery partion that has been set by Compaq.
I cannot see the rest of the files that were on the original c drive.
Is there any way of getting my files off of my hard drive on to this other machine.

Startup with your XP CD (or Recovery CD) in CDROM and BIOS set to boot from CD as first device.

Enter r for Repair when disk loads. Wait....

It should spot all the Windows Installations on your drive (1 hopefully)

Choose fast (auto) repair option
