which version of OE are you running?? there was a patch for it realeased last year sometime, and i know your problem is very common but there doesnt seem to be a specific fix for it according to the OE support site. ive had the problem with two installs ive done before. Good luck.

no i dont have xp sp2 installed, only xp sp1.

i actually meant that there is a patch available for outlook express which MAY have resloved the msimn.exe problems that alot of OE users were experiencing. other than that, most of the msimn.exe errors seem to be a mystery to most.

There are a couple of isses that may cause that problem.

    1. I had a configuration that automatically signed onto the Messenger Service w
    henever I opened Outlook Express.

Quite often (although not every time) whenever I had checked my mail and closed Outlook Express, I received a similar error message (Memory could not be
    'written').

By removing the automatic Messenger log on option, I seem to have solved the
    problem.

In Outlook Express, select TOOLS and then OPTIONS.

In the GENERAL tab menu, remove the tick mark from the option 'Automatically
Log Onto Windows Messenger' and then apply the change.

    2. This one recommends what to download to fix the error. http://forums.webactivemagazine.co.u...message=177590

    Hope that helps.
