    "Access is Denied" error

I recently moved my computer to a new case, in the process I un hooked my master and slave drives and put them back in. After I did this I reformated my MASTER drive, with the slave drive disconnected to make sure that the F-disk would not write over my Slave drive by accident. Everything seemed to work fantastic, until I noticed that some of my files on the slave drive where unaccessable. I manualy tried to use them and got no responce. I went to view the properties of the folder which has the said files in them, and noticed that it was "read only", thinking this might have been the problem I proceeded to uncheck the "read only" box. After doing this and clicking ok I was given an error that reads: "acess is denied".
Then I tried moving the folder on to my destop and I wis given this error:
Cannot Copy Filename: Acess is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use

I have tried this on several different groups of files and some give me this error yet many others dont. This is the first time that I have been unable to solve my own problems with my computer, please help!

You need to take ownership of them. Right-click the folder, select
properties. Go to the security tab and click advanced. You can take control
of the folders on the owner tab. For the security tab to appear in a WinXP
Pro system, you must disable simple file sharing in the control panel/folder
options/view tab. For a WinXP Home system, you must restart in safe mode and
logon as administrator. More details here:

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP [Q308421]

An additional note for WinXP Pro users: This procedure will not help you
recover data if the files are encrypted. All you will be able to do is
delete them. To recover encrypted files you will need the original
encryption certificate or a Recovery Agent from the installation under which
they were encrypted. Without one of these, the files are not recoverable.

Sound like that could fix it, I'll try it...right now. But I'd like to know what happened and why? Why would I loose ownership of the files? Thanks for your help. This community is fantastic.

FIXED! Thanks so much, very quick responce and instant results, and I was ready to pay someone to get this fixed! <3
