I recently installed a new hard drive and re-installed windows xp,since then my samsung dvd drive will not read disks and floppy drive has dissappeared.help

How are your drives configured?

ie:
IDE 0 -----v-- Hard Drive (jumper set to CS)
|
\
-------- CDROM (jumper set to SLave)

Does your BIOS see the CD and floppy? Check the connections.

Yes drive is detected and there are no conflicts obvious I decided to bin the drive and buy another
