I have a HP Pavilion ZE1000 series laptop. It has window xp on it and I have several programs on it. Like Word, Visio, Cars(CHP Accident writing program), Form Flow. After awhile it locks up nothing I can do except hold the on button for 10 seconds to get it to shut down. It got really hot. I noticed that the fan goes on at start up and then shuts off and then prior to shutting down the normal way it goes on again for a short period of time. It is extremely hot near the Memory compartment on the back. Does the fan have a thermostat on it and can it be bad? I never heard of a fan that goes on only a short time at start up. the memory is 384 one slot 128 and the other 256. Please help. Thanks.
