Angry Nothing happens when I click on a link

I have RoadRunner and when I click on a link for a news story on the home page nothing happens. Sometimes the same thing happens when I am on other web pages. I printed out the instructions from Microsoft support to correct this problem. I follow the steps beginning with the dll file "regsvr 32" and proceed down the list. I get error messages and don't succeed with the dll files Msjava and Browseul. This fix works only temporarily or sometimes not at all. The instructions then say, if all of the above do not work, reinstall Internet Explorer 6. I am definitely no computer tech person and do not want to proceed with that step. Any suggestions? Thank you very much

i guess this is the microsoft page you mention:
You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link

    i found this further detail:

    For OE:

    Start/Run/CMD. Type this command: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Ok/Reboot. Then
go to: IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

    Hyperlinks not opening:

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and regsvr32
    shdocvw.dll. Then reboot.

    Check your settings here:

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll down to
    URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit.

Under Application used to perform action it should read:
    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

Also make sure that IE is your Default Browser.

    If worse comes to worst:

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP

I would try Method 2: Edit the Registry and Install Internet Explorer 6

    Internet Explorer 6
