    PC Crashes while playing games

Hey! I've got a big problem! Ok, let's see, I used to play Sims 1 before whitout any problem, now my computer crashes. I bought Sims 2 but found out I couldn't play it because I didn't have a video card, so I bought one. I also bought more ram! When I play Sims 2, I can play for about 10-15 minutes, but then it freezes my whole comp. I thought it was just Sims 2, but my Sims 1 freezes also! I formated my computer a few weeks ago. Here's some of my system's information:

    ATI Radeon 9250 video card
    512 MB of ram
    DirectX version: DirectX 9.0c

I have lots of space on my computer, it's a 37.2GB and I have 24.3 GB of space. I have a great video card and lots of ram.

I posted this on other forums but in the "Games" directory, but it seems that it's because of my computer, not my games. Pleaaaaaaase help me! Thank you!

    Chantal

what exactly happens to the computer?
    freeze? crash? shutdown? reboot?
    any error messages?

try looking at the Event Viewer:
    go to Start > Run > eventvwr.msc
open the tabs & look for red X errors that coincide with a freeze time.
click error to get details window.
    post back
    1) Source
    2) Event ID
    3) Description

Have u made any changes of hardware or software lately that might coincide?

    SP2?

Do you have any problems beside this game?

My whole computer freezes, so I have to reboot. I do not get any error messages, it just freezes. I did what you told me to do, but I don't know which error message you want so, here's one in particular, it happens a lot.

    Source: Application Hang
    Event ID: 1002
Description: Hanging application DCPlusPlus.exe version 0.4.0.1. Hang module hungapp

I recently formated my computer, I installed a new video card and put more ram, that's all I did. As for software, I don't have much, I have Adobe Photoshop 7, Kazaa Lite, Internet Explorer, MSN, YAHOO and AIM...Furcadia...DivX, Windows Media player, Quicktime and Real Player...I don't know what else I could mention..

Problems? Well my computer randomly freezes sometimes. I think it's my Anti-virus program, it's called Panda anti-virus. Sometimes I see it updating and then my computer freezes..I don't know what else to tell you. What can I do?? I really want to play my games...
    Thanks for your help!

    dcplusplus.exe
is a connecton application as seen in that link.

That error is also associated with RAM problems. Are You sure your new RAM is working ok? Is it read by the BIOS?

As to DC++ being a problem app, it could be associated with kazza or any other P2P software, all of which I would suggest removing.

If you suspect Panda then try running without it & see if that makes a difference.

You also might want to post a HiJack This log in the Spyware section below:

Please follow all of Owen's instructions HERE once you have completed that post your log on the Spyware, Adware and Viruses board.

    Hope this helps

I'm pretty sure my ram is ok...I have tried playing my games without Panda and it still freezes. Thanks for your help!

dcplusplus.exe is not an xp file.

therefore a posibility is to delete it (it will be in your recycle bin then)

& see if that makes a difference

How do I get rid of the P2P sofware? I mean, I don't want to delete something if I need it...

    hmmmmmmmm

look in the Task Manager to see if it's running.

    press Ctrl Shift Esc

    look under the processes tab

...kazza lite was probably your P2P software if you are not aware of installing any other that is probably it. P2P is file sharing software that quite often shares more than you want.

i still recommend posting a Hijack This log in the spyware section.
