I am currently running an XP machine and I have trouble with the desktop icons. In the background part of each icon, It is a color and I want it to be like it use to be where all you can see is the writing and a trasparent background to where it is the desktop picture. Do you know what I am saying? Well If anyone knows please hit me back. Also It might be useful knowledge to know that when it went away (the trasparent icon thing) was when I had a computer place remove some spyware and viruses. Well thanks in advance.

Goto the system control panel, Advanced
Performance settings, then clikc the Visual Effects tab

Check off Use Drop Shadows for Icon Labels on the desktop

Also in conjunction to the above setting, right click your desktop, then
arrange icons, and make sure lock items to web desktop is not checked
off
