    CPU Problem

    Hi,

Can someone please enlighten me if it is normal for the CPU to run off at 100% just for simple tasks as opening a new explorer window? This is obviously freezing my PC for a couple of seconds, and I have to wait a bit before the window opens. What steps should I take to solve this problem?

Does anyone knows what the PF Usage in the Performance Tab of the Task Manager indicate?

    Thanks.

Have you run any diagnostics. If so, what?

Do you see any particular process running the 100%?

What is your System Idle %?

At any time do these combined percentages exceed 100%?

No particular process, just when I click on a window, being it an explorer window, being it some other application.

When the system is idle, the percentage goes down.

As regards diagnostics, I've tried many spyware programs, ccleaner, memtest, regsupreme etc.... everything seems OK.

What I'm now suspecting is that I might have too little coolant paste between the CPU and the cooler or some other problem with CPU temperature. What do you think about this and how can you check if the CPU is exceeding its normal temperature?

Have you booted into safe mode to see if the problem still exists there?
