Perhaps the easiest way to get rid of it is to post a HiJack This log in the Spyware section. Please follow all of Owen's instructions HERE once you have completed that post your log on the Spyware, Adware and Viruses board.

Point out to Owen that you're concerned with Backweb.

Or you can search your startup folders & registry to delete it yourself.

    The following describes this program:

Backweb is included with software from companies such as Hewlett Packard and is used to check for updates, new products etc.

The best way to deal with this error is to identify what is in global start up that is tring to use it.

This error is from an application that runs in the background and checks for software updates. It is not necessarily spyware/adware. Different companies use it, one of them is Logitech. The application could have been deleted somehow, but the registry entry has not been removed. You can either ignore the error message, or edit the registry for each user that gets this message and get rid of it.

On my machine, it was found in the "run" section under hkey_current_user/softare/microsoft/windows/currentVersion/Run section.
There was an entry labeled LDM with the following key value:
    C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe

I deleteted this key value, the error message went away!

    Good luck.

ps - Note: I found this registry entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER section, NOT the global section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE!! If it is also in hkey_current_user on your machine, you will have to login to this computer for each user that has an account and edit the registry to remove it once and for all for everybody!

Like altering system files, modifying the registry can be risky and D-A-L.com and its members cannot accept liability for any adverse effects caused by following advice freely given on this site.

see if you can find the back web in add/remove programs if so you may be able to remove it that way but you deffintly need to do as jeephre said run spybot, adaware and then post a freah hijack this log

    hope this helps
