I have just salvaged a previous hard drive which hasn't worked for some time now it does.
It has an operating system installed on it (which i obviously do not use now) and i am trying to salvage files from the documents folder, when i try this i go to local disk D:>documents and settings>(then my username) then it says Access is denied.

Is there any way i can bypass this as i know it is due to user accounts and folder permissions etc. I have tried accessing it through the command prompt but even this is telling me it cannot be done.

try pressing f8 when you boot it up
