you tried going into msconfig to turn them off?
looked in there mate they are not listed any body else have any ideas
Just a few quick google groups finds:
Included msconfig info although I know you been there; fwiw.
Plus you might want to show Owen your HiJackThis Log:
1. It'll be something in either the Startup groups or the registry, or
possibly a forced run Nal application - not client specific.
Check whats in the Startup Group from the user and for All Users, along with
the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentVersion\Run
and Run Once
2. Open Windows Explorer. Hit tools, folder options, view tab, scroll down
the list and take the check out of Restore previous folder windows at
login.
3. Before I go any further, did you download highlighter from Windows Update
when it was available? If yes, that's the issue.
If you see it in Add/Remove programs, remove it. If not, go to Start and
type msconfig in the run box and press enter. Go tot the Startup tab,
remove the check next to highlighter, assuming it is there and see if that
stops the issue.
This is a known issue with Highlighter that was pulled from Windows Update
for this reason and there's no known fix at this time.
4. Go to Startup on the start menu and be sure nothing there is the cause of
the issue. Then go to Start and type msconfig in the run box and press
enter. Go to Startup and see if you find anything there that might be
causing the issue. You may have to uncheck items one by one, rebooting
after each one to check.
HTH
what is google groups?
Google's version of newsgroups/ usenet.
They also carry all of Microsoft's newsgroups; such as
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
![]()
hi jephree this prob only happens on my user account ive looked in misconfig and there is no highlighter there
any ideas
hi spud; do you see anything different between the user account & the admin account in msconfig? or Start up folder? or HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentVersion\Run
and Run Once
Also perhaps compare HiJack This logs between the 2 accounts. To see what's starting up.
You shouldn't have an administrators a/c. The admin a/c is for when you are installling xp...........what website is it logging you onto?Originally Posted by spud
