its a small box --with windows installer in the blue header to the box
below it it says preparing to install(nothing else, with a pictiure of a compuer and a disc at the side ) . The hard disc makes a brub brub noise and the installer box that comes up after abode flashes 3-4 times and it is also flashing away in an iconised version at the bottom of the screen

I have never used it but it seems like it might help.

Ive tried it thku --up to a certain stage---it has some health warnings on it s use ---so dont want to use it fully incase I mess up alot more

HI THERE is the following of any use:

The correct version of Windows Installer Cleanup utility (msicuu.exe) is
available from Windows XP CD-ROM.


1. Insert your Windows XP CD into the drive and browse to H:\SUPPORT\TOOLS.
2. Double-click on setup.exe.
3. Then when prompted, opt for the Complete Installation and you'll have
Windows Installer Cleanup utility installed.
4. Click on Start > All Programs > Windows Support Tools > Command Prompt,
type msicuu.exe and press Enter.


[This launches the Windows Installer CleanUp dialog window. It displays all
the programs and applications that have been installed onto your PC using
the Windows Installer.]


5. Select the item that's causing problems and click on Remove. All the
program's associated registry entries will be removed from your system along
with its entries under Add/Remove Programs.

Another possibility to check is your Event Viewer

Strat > Run > eventvwr.msc

Look under System & also Applications for errors at the time of one of these startups.

If found please post Source & Event ID & Description.

You will see these by clicking on the error line.

installation of office proffesional2003 failed comes up as info

and there is a warning with this many times

now i had office 97 and installed 2003 over it but it didnt work properly
so i reinstalled 97 otherwise i had no version working . ther was some part missing of office pro2003 it kept detecting and making the samwe rurr noise ! but now i only have 97 office 97 works ok and no noise

just when i open adobe

maybe there is still a trace of 2003 on my system -- is there a way of checking this and deleting a;ll records of that version plesase ?

do you see it listed with the installer cleanup program?

there is something left of office 2003 in my istall/remove list

when i try to remove it i get the brurr brurr again and it says this pack package could not be opened.verify patch package exists and you can access it or verify if this is a valid windows installerer,windows preparing to install patch package install ??

I havnt had a look at the list yet on the fixer

it was in the list and i have removed it !!! i hope this is ok ??
