    half screen

    Hi,
Using win XP Pro with Office XP Pro, with latest updates. A problem which I am not sure caused by Win or Office and it goes like this:
opening the printer dialogue to print a file (any) will be ok, but if I would like to open the properties dialogue it will be cut on the right hand side, it prints without problems with quality or communication. The printer is Epson 1290, it was ok until about 8 months ago. couple of months ago I purchased a new printer HP I loaded all the drivers and programme, the same problem. I discuvered lately that if I open Norton (right click on HD and in the screen that appears I select Norton), the screen will be opened with the same problem; the right hand side cut and again it is working properly. It seems that 3rd party programmes are effected but not windows programmes.
Does any one have an idea how to solve this problem without re-installing windows and the rest?
    thanks, Albert

    Thanks,
I tried to start the PC with all services off, and start programmes unticked (in msconfig), it did not make any difference.
I will try to remove some programmes, I would think that the programmes to remove will be thoes which effect the display...

Attached you can see what happens to the image, any ideas?
Which programmes might cause such a problem, to remind you it is not only on the printer's dialogue. The right hand side is missing (not complete)
    Thanks

It's curious how it is a "full" window: [X] in the corner etc.
It is the interior of the window that seems to be too big for the outer window; thus cut off.
Can you expand the outter window by setting your cursor on the boarder <-> & dragging larger?

I will do some more searching. I tried before but didn't understand the detail.
    Thanks for the picture!

The first thing I tried was to drag the edge of the screen with the corsure, but it does not work. Another interesting thing is that the options that can be seen, even half, work properly.

I see your problem here & there without much response. Here are a few things suggested to try:

One try is Control Panel > Accessibility Options
Make sure Use High Contrast is UNchecked.

Another "test" Right Click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Performance then Settings then try Adjust for best performance or try Let Windows choose... .

Also with the window open, does it have a coresponding button on the task bar?
If so you can right click that button & choose Size, which allows resizing of coresponding window.

Or see if you can right click the top bar & get the Size option.

You may have set your font size in XP on a too large font. Try to size it down, and see what happens.
control Panel > Display > Appearance > Font Size > Normal

Right-click on the desktop, choose Properties (for Display Properties),
Settings tab, and make sure you have not chosen "large fonts" or similar.
Some programs do not size their dialog boxes adequately for anything
except the default screen font size.

    ...will keep looking...

I have a similar display with some programs and it is due to my 17" TFT mnonitor being set to a resolution of 1280x1024. If I change it to (say) 800x600 all is well. As I much prefer the higher screen resolution I put up with the inconvenience. It seems that some program writers haven't addressed the wide variation in screen resolutions available today. Hope this explains if not cures.
