Hi all

I use my laptop daily, connected most of the time to the mains. For some reason the mains power supply has started disconnecting and the battery will only charge when the laptop is switch off. I am no longer able to run the laptop from the mains....can anyone help??? Thanks

Without a doubt your power supply is on the fritz. When it comes to laptops, they are much more difficut to dissamble and diagnose. Have you tried removing the battry and hooking to the main. If you end up with the same result, I would estimate that there are 2 electical pathways powering the unit. When off it sends all power to charging the battry, but when on that power takes a diffrent path splitting up the power so that the battry can be charged while powering the laptop. Your best bet is to try to find a place that could replace your power unit in your laptop. Im not shure but if this problem your having happened, all of a sudden, but if it did their might be just a fuse blown for that pathway.

Thanks for quick reply and help...the problem was the 19v adaptor and at a cost of 60€ has been replaced. Possibly caused by my continually connecting and reconnecting while the battery was charging, a bad habit which I shall reframe from doing in future. In fact I have taken the battery out as a precaution.
