Hello folks, A computer at work has a problem. When i turn it on, i get a message about Windows being unable to start because the following file is missing or corrupt ;- System32\hal.dll. I have a recovery disk but it seems this is only used to erase my hard drive. I cannot afford to lose the files on the computer. Has anyone got any advice because i'm useless when it comes to things like this.

Try safe mode search for old .dll file, drop it to desktop. Put new one into system32 folder reboot and start in windows mode.
