ok, i know this thread is ages old. but im in need of help once again..
my pc has started making its loud buzzing noise again when i start it up, it only lasts for a few seconds, but i know from past experiance ignoring it isnt going to help.
the problem before was due to a faulty graphics card fan which eventually complely packed in and fried the graphics card, leading to it needing to be replaced by a technition, only 3 months ago as the computer got to the stage where it would freeze as soon as i started it up.

i want to upgrade my system, brand new top spec video card and a gig of ram. but i dont want to do all this and then the thing decides in 6 months. ok i dont want to b a pc anymore i want to be a microwave. and completly packs in, nore do i want to buy a new graphics card and the fan goes again and burns out killing the new graphics card. ive got no virises no spyware no adaware ive defragmented and disk cleanuped and ive removed any general twaddle i dont need. also i dont thinkthe problems a dust build up on the fan or anything as i tend to keep it as clean as i can, and when it was opened up at xmas it was pretty much as clean as a whistle in there
ideally i would like a new pc, but im a poor student leaving for university ina few months, and with car insurace of over a thousand pound due in 8 weeks, so i dont think i can afford it.
also i dont know if this has any relevence but it doesent apear to like shutting down, randomly it just refuses to do so and flashes up the little " shut down log off restart" display, which leaves before i can click it, and then as soon as i move my curser, re apears ( it likes to agrivate me, and ive tried outsmarting it by using the keyboard which also dosent work!!!)
eventually i have to shut it down by holding power button for 8 seconds.

please help itll be much aprechiated
    thanx
    clairey

    What about that:
leaving me with an updated onsite warantee of another year!!!
    ?

Can you locate the noise source? Hard drive? Fan? etc.

    As to the shutdown issue:
    Try running check disk:

    start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk/f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.

well that would be brillaint if i could get through! ive been trying for 2 days and each time im at call position no 20 somthin with a wait of 20 odd min.. ill call back monday at an odd time when it should b quieter.. and even if they do agree to come out again theyll only replace the graphics card again, coz the extrnded warantee was only for the replaced part i think.. which isnt gonna help coz itll prob blow up again! n i think thats still where the noise is coming from

ill try running your disk check idea in the morning before work, as im being bugged by my dad to make him a cuppa tea n some toast atm , so i best go... he can b like a small child " please oh please claire can i have a cuppa tea, claireeeeeeeeee"
