    windows didn't start successfully

    Help please.
Win xp pro. Athlon 1.7 Memory 768
I shut down in hibernation mode but there was a power cut and when I came to restart I get as far as the logo screen then there is a flash of blue screen (too quick to read} ,two beeps, then a screen saying windows didn't start with a choice of safe mode, last successful start or normal start.none of these work --I get to the logo screen and blue screen, two beeps etc.
Before reaching the logo screen everything seems normal. The memory ,drives etc are all there.I understand the beeps indicate a memory fault which ties in the the hibernation mode and power cut.
I did not get windows xp pro cd rom with the PC when i bought it,and I have important stuff which i don't want to loose.
Is there anything i can do to rescue this and get going again?
    Thanks

hi swtters i found this on the web
    2 beeps Parity error
    - try reseating the memory, if the error still occurs, replace the memory

i think you will need to get hold of a xp recovery disk dp ypu have access to one

also you can check more info on beep codes on chous post here

if you did not get any kind of "recovery cd" then you should check with whomever you purchased it from; as such a CD is part of the product.

otherwise you can contact the manufacterer to get one, although they will probably charge something.

"recovery CDs" vary as to make & model, so you will have to get the precise CD for your machine.

any chance that it is still under waranty?
