Hope I'm not asking a stupid question here....

I've been using ME and when I built my new PC I used everything new.......I still have the hard drive from the old machine and I want to use it as a slave on this machine...no problem with master/slave thing its just will I be able to move the music files i've got stored on the other disc before formatting it and just using it as extra storage space??

Or should I insert the HDD in this Pc and boot up in ME and transfer all the files onto a cdr then just take them from there??

if you are installing xp it should recognise the files you put on your old hdd when you put it in then you can simply transfer them over then reformat your old hdd

Cheers for that.......I've just answered my own question by connecting the old HDD to the kids PC...so if it went wrong not my PC gone wrong (altho' I'll be the one to sort it out)...and it worked fine just gotta get around to opening this case again....
