i need to do a system restore, but im kind of worried that if i do will i lose my work or any of my files?? and more importantlly will system restore change back settings of the internet? because recently i did something with the settings and somethings dont work properly as they used to before. ive tried system restore before and it says it cant restore it back so can anyone help me from here?

Specs if u need to know:
XP Home Edition, SP2, ADSL Router [ D-Link 504-T], Norton Personal Firewall (NPF), Norton Antivirus. (anything else just ask )

Why are you restoring in the first place? Do you have indications of deeper problems?

System restore seems to have a mind of it's own IMHO. You shouldn't lose saved documents , email or history and favourite lists.....I have never lost anything. If the files are very important back them up first before trying. If a system restore works then you can reverse the process if need be. Why do you need to do a system restore anyway?

well ive posted a message in other criteria about my internet settings. they was perfect before i messed around with proxy settigns and ive tried everything to get it back to normal so i came to a conclusion to do a system restore. just worried about my files. i got around 10gb of things i realy cant lose and if i burn them onto cd that will b alot of cds.

just tried a system restore and it said it coudnt restore back can anyone help please ??
