please help - i just purchased my own laptop - windows xp professional - and it just does not shut down!! I go to turn off system, click on it and keep waiting - the system does not even get busy - nothing happens!! I dont want to keep using the power button to switch it off - please help!! would really appreciate it if you could help me out urgently!!

Thank you so much for all the help - this was really complicated - i apparently had some driver issues - so instead of following repair step s- i just installed the drivers again and th eproblem disappeared - sorry I did not reply earlier - been busy getting my work started!
