losing hardrives

    Unhappy losing hardrives

    can any one help me? i keep losing HDD's on my pc.i have 10 drives in total and 4 of them are maxtor 250gb.
    the data stay on the drive but the pc lose's the drive or tells me the drive is not format?this is the second time its happening and it happens only on the 250gb drives,the only way i could get the data back was with sofware. ican see the drives as the pc boots up but in windows they are not there or need format.the drives are on promise pci ide controllers.i tried new power supply but the same.could it be faulty drives?or promise ide contoller.

    wow; that's quite a PC!

    Was XP installed before the addition of these drives?

    Was your current set-up working for some time, then suddenly developed these problems?

    What happened the last time this happened? How was this resolved?

    Have you looked in the Device Manager for both the drives & controller cards?
    Also Disk Management?

    Did you use MaxBlast to install the drives?

    ****ing hell jonnyc what could you possibly have on your pc that needs more than 1000gb hard drive! thats insane!!!! you must have a moster of a mobo to back it up and processor!!!!!!! :O

    i'd love to see what else you have on your system?

    1 gig graphics card
    the all new pentium 14

    i got 512 graphics card not too far behind ! obviouslyi am far behind with only 320 gb harddrive , jonny, what harddrive space do you have alltogether? adding all your hard drives up?

    ok here is my setup but plz dont laugh at me !!

    Frst pc:
    Pentium 4 2.0GHZ 533mhz
    512mb ram
    5x250GB HD
    3x120GB HD
    Geforce FX5200

    Second PC:
    Celeron 2.4GHz
    512MB RAM
    3x250GB HD
    2x120GB HD
    Geforce FX5200

    Thats about it!!
    Total of HD's is around 2.5TB of Space

    P.S
    i am still having problems ..any advice???

    Have you checked Maxtor's site?

    It is quite comprehensive & helpfull.

    In the Diagnostics you will find PowerMax to check on your drives.

    In the manuals you will find set-up & configuration data.

    Here is Maxtor. Select your exact model # from the drop down list; this was just my guess at the model:

    johnny mate u using ur second pc atm or u using both? really what the heck u need all that space for :S i thought 320 gb was alot!
