A few weeks ago my computer began to run slow so I did the usual checks - checking for viruses, trojans and finally I checked to see if my C: drive needed defragmenting, it was in a mess, it was full of defragmented files and my computer told me that there was only 8% of the drive workable so it could not defragment it unless there was 15% available. My System Restore and Disk Clean Up didn't work either so I reluctantly completely re-set my computer up using my D: FAT32 drive, and for a week it worked perfectly then I started to have problems again, did the usual checks and then went to defrag the drive and found that C: drive NTFS, was ok but this time D: drive FAT32, was full of defragmented files with only 8% free space and I, once again needed 15% to be able to defrag the drive.I'm stuck this time because I don't know if I can use the HP Recovery Files to re-setup the computer as there are so many defraged files on that drive, however upon analysing the drive I am told that this volume does not need defragmenting but the drive is full and I need to delete some files to get the 15% needed to defragment and as you know I can't do that on D: drive,. do you know what is wrong and if it can be put right without re-setting up my computer.

Can I suggest you keep the FAT32 (what size is it btw) for your OS, if that's where your OS is. And use the NTFS for all your data (how big is this drive?).

Let me know the drive sizes and we may be able to suggest a better partition setup for you.
