Suddenly and without warning all of the mpg icons in my computer turned into that Icon that is a blank folded piece of paper folded in the top right corner with a picture of some kind of window in it that has icons (in the picture) also whenever I double click these icons it asks me what program to use or if I want to use a web service to look it up. This has also happened to my DAT files. It is quite annoying and makes me unable to send the files to others because the mpeg files come up as text for the people I'm sending to. Plus any compressed folder with an mpeg file or DAT file cannot be unzipped because the file is "invalid". Please help me this is getting terribly bothersome thanks

What happens if you choose your program from the list to open it, will it open? If so tick the box that says always associate. Same with the Dat files.
