That's it. I found a BIOS update issued in 99, so it's a year later from yours. That is probably the last update that will ever be issued for your board.

I was just checking other parts.

Not to worry about space (as far as I know). I think I must have some sort of reputation for lengthy posts & threads.

So dont worry... & I'll be back

    ok... summation as of now:

    1) you can update your BIOS one version (its' final state). It is always pointed out that this is risky, although I have never had any problems; point being if something does go wrong you most likely kill the mobo.
    This step is optional.
I am posting links just to have them available for future reference:
    Intel® SE440BX Motherboard

    2) Problems & Suggestions: Install more system memory. from your Manual

Memory can be increased to a maximum of 384 megabytes (MB) by installing
    combinations of 3.3-volt (V) 32-, 64-, and 128-MB dual in-line memory modules
(DIMMs) in the three DIMM sockets on the system board. Only 100-megahertz
    (MHz) DIMMs are supported.

    From your scan:
    Memory (RAM):
    PropertyValue
    Bank Label BANK 1
    Capacity 134217728

    Bank Label BANK 2
    Capacity 33554432

Total Memory Deteced in Hardware: ~160 MB
Memory Reported to Operating System: 160MB

So you have a 128 & a 32. I would add another 128 in the 3rd slot. You need to match the type & speed. I would say this is a must do.

3)Internalizing the 80gig. I would highly recommend getting the above mentioned Maxtor ATA/133 PCI adapter card, although we can try without it; my opinion is you'd be much happier with it; but if you want to try with what you have already I don't see how it will harm anything; The MaxBlast will either run or it wont; if it doesnt it doesnt change anything other than the time you put into the process of moving stuff around.
If there is anything on that 80gig that you want to save then you will have to save it to floppies or cd's.

Let us know what you think

japhree, just happened to come back on the site, didn't know you had posted this hours ago. What is this manual you and hippy keep referring to? I take it that the memory is to be purchased and installed. Theres no worry about saving anything on the 80 gig as i can't access it to get it off. I'd like to know how to put everything from the 4gig to the 80 gig or will I need to lose that too? On the everest report it gave me a bios upgrade site, is this the one I should load? Hopefully you have gone to bed and i'll check back tomorrow nite.
    Thanks japhree

the manual for your computer is linked in my above post by the underlined word Manual.
It is a large PDF download (Adobe Reader).
The memory slips in just like a PCI card with the exception that there are two clips to clip; no biggie. Most any comp store carries the basics, just make sure they match your speed (100 MHz) & your type (DIMM)

If you want to extract anything from the 80gig you can use someone else's computer.
Before you disassemble the exterior box.

The BIOS upgrade I found thru intell & is linked in my previous post. It needs to be made into a bootable floppy just as you did powermax.

With the 80gig and the 4gig internally installed MaxBlaster will transfer the 4gig to the 80gig (after wiping the 80gig) the 4gig will not be altered. You can keep it as a backup or wipe it later & reuse it.

& just by the way if you see words (or phrases) here underlined they are most likely Links; put your cursor on them & the arrow will become a hand & you can link to the linked site.
