HP zt1170 crashes, screen goes blank, reboots unsuccessfully
Hope some one has some insight. My computer has crashed multiple times. It will reboot 1 out of every 8 or so trys. Window xp loads, I can use applications for about 3-5 miuntes then the screen goes black, sometimes it automatically tries to reboot, but either 1) it freezes at the HP logo, 2)nothing appears at all, 3) windows reboots and the problem starts all over again. It's been to the Best Buys service center 2 times now, and they keep telling me nothing is wrong, though I'm skeptical if they are even turning it, becase each time I've went to pick it up and ask the tech to boot it up the problem persist. I downloaded an updated s3 graphics driver but that didn't seem to help. Any suggestions. Also on the HP zt 1170 can you just replace the graphics adapter?

If its under warranty I'd take it back to Best buys and stand with them while they check it out. What did they say when you asked them to boot it up and the problem was still there?

Well this is the 3rd time i've taken it back to them. It's been sent to their service center 2 time and today is the 3rd. I've actually stood there while they tried a system restore but the cd's wouldn't load, computer kept crashing. They wanted to do a diagnostic check after they restored the software. One guy thinks it's the motherboard, another a virus, the stop error that I got before it really crashed mentioned replacing the graphis adapter. They don't have a clue so, once again it's going back. It is under warrenty and if it doesn't come back fixed as it has, I'm going to request a new computer at least that's what the warranty states after 3 failed service repairs.
