hi,

i m familiar with laptops since a long time and been doing formats and solving small problems on my own.
right now i have a gateway laptop,
when i press power button, the initial gateway screen/ boot screen comes where i have option to press F2 or F10 for boot menu and boot setings.
but the screen remains the same no matter what key i press.
it does not respond to either F2 or F10, or any other key as a mater of fact,
but when i press 1234567890 it makes continuous high frequency beeping sounds and starts up.
here comes the password screen where in the place of password lot of dots are already there as if somebody is pressing any key continuously, and my keyboard is totally nonfunctioning at this time. the sound disappears automatically.
i have tried everything on the blogs
tried onscreen keyboard from ease of access, shuting down,
keeping power button on for a long time, nothing works.
as there is no CD with this laptop, the boot is in the hard drive which i cant access no matter how hard i try,
please help.

if you can have access to your ram chips, check if they're loose. take them out, blow hard on them, put it back on. see if that works.

It could be a keyboard problem, try checking the keyboard connector inside the casing. If that seems ok then it is possibly a faulty keyboard.

it is always very helful to put all the PC generals Model, ram, HDS capacity speed et etc.
There is this model that you have to enter BIOS in order to make it work see if there is a KEY named "F Lock"
