I hope ive posted this in the right section

I have an asus laptop (not sure of model, sorry) running windows vista and it hasnt been in use for a few months now. Ive recently powered it back up and although everything is working fine as before, all except the wireless connection.... it picks the connection and on the network connection screen it tells me i am connected but i cant connect to the internet with it. i have run the dagnostics and it tells me it cant be rsolved and i have checked the net and the best solution i got was to press Fn and F2 to turn wireless back on but that wont work either despite connections saying i am connected to the network.

If this makes sense to anyone i have a pic of a laptop and a pic of a clobe with a line running between them but there is a cross in the middle of that line now that was never there before which i will assume is something to do with my non connection, i dont understand as i automatically logged on before without any problems.

I use comodo as a firewall and have even shut that down to see if it helps but still no avails, please help cos im kinda hitting brick walls on what to do next, vista confuses a long time xp user.... many thanks in advance

if you say it has not run for ages, try updating internet explorer to latest version.
