Unhappy Shutting Down and Checking Disc C for Consitency on Start-up

I am somewhat computer illiterate, and my computer has started shutting down on me randomly and when I start it up it says "Checking Disc C: for Consitency" and it gives me the option to skip it, which I do because I'm scared it will crash my computer and I have all of our business information on here.

I read a few other threads and keep running into road blocks....I tried the scannow scf and it doesn't work, nothing happens.

I try going to CMD and doing the fsutil dirty query C: but it says I have to be an administrator....which is frustrating because I only have one profile on this computer which is me...the administrator.

I tried doing the Chkdsk /f /r c: and it says access denied as I do not have sufficient privelages.

    Please help someone!

Ummm, do understand that what the computer is prompting you to do when checking for consistency is run chkdsk.

Also note that /r includes /f so you don't need both. You may need to run it from Safe Mode.

If really concerned about your data, pull the drive and install it in an enclosure or another computer as a secondary (not boot) drive and copy your data off.
